One World Group

The One World Group promotes our sense of justice and peace in the parish community. It fosters our use of FairTrade goods, promotes the Bishops’ Live Simply initiative and occasional CAFOD campaigns. In the long term the group is building links with Muheza Rosminian School in Tanga, Tanzania. The group raises money to help buy equipment for the school, and encourages long-distance friendships between its pupils and those of Saint Joseph’s Primary School.

As part of the promotion of FairTrade goods, the group sells Traidcraft and other products supplied by Fair Do’s - Siopa Teg, Cardiff. These items (such as FairTrade chocolate, rice, clothing and handicrafts) are available each month at the Hall entrance.

Hospital Lay Visitors

We have in the parish a small band of Hospital Lay Visitors, who, once a week, at times convenient to each of them, visit wards in the Heath Hospital. If you could spare a few hours each week and you like meeting people and you have a sympathetic ear, please contact Brother Brian (see the Contact Page) for more details about this very important and rewarding ministry.

Union of Catholic Mothers

The Union of Catholic Mothers, UCM, is an organisation aimed at caring for needs that arise in the parish. It meets each Monday evening in the Meeting Room.

Life Group

The Life Group promotes the work of the Pro-Life organisations at the local level.

Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT)

Our group was formed in 1974 to take handicapped children to Lourdes each Easter. HCPT has about 200 groups mainly from Great Britain and Ireland. Each group has a leader, a State Registered Nurse, a chaplain and 10 helpers. When not in Lourdes, the group hold lots of fundraising activities - to pay for the children’s fares. The helpers pay for themselves. Helpers are always welcome, especially young people.

Faith and Light

Faith and Light is a group which celebrates life together with members of our community who have disabilities. It meets at Trinity Methodist in Newport Road each third Sunday of the month.

Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary meets every Thursday at 3pm in the Presbytery, and after rosary discusses visiting the sick and other parish needs.
